The Yonkers Police Department claimed victory in the 22nd Annual Charity Hockey Game against the Yonkers Fire Department. Dropping the puck to start off the contest was the former New York Rangers' Wing, Colton Orr, pictured below.
Contested on the ice of the Edward J Murray Skating Center in Yonkers, both teams played tough, defensive, hockey with neither team having put the puck in the net in the first period of play. It wasn't until 12:48 of the second period that the Police broke through the defense of the Fire Department to score. Not content to allow their fellow civil servants to get the best of them, the Fire Department squad came back to score after just about one minute, tying the game at 1-1. The score remained tied at 1-1 until the Police slapped home another one, taking the contest with a final score of 2-1.
